Meridian High School is a place where only exceptional is acceptable for our students. Inclusivity is at the heart of what we do, where a robust universal offer is at the heart of our classroom practice. We give our students the tools they need to access learning. Our targeted and specialist provision goes one step further and we have developed an exceptional offer of support unique to any secondary school in the country.
Students benefit from a personalised and ambitious curriculum which is centred around the needs of the individual child. Our children know what success looks like and feels like. Students are encouraged to present the best version of themselves at all times and we develop the whole child. Education means more than academic achievement at Meridian High School.
Our focus on academic achievement is supported by our relentless drive to ensure our students are well rounded, values driven, self-regulating young people by the time they leave our care and begin their next educational adventures. We are in the business of shaping the future, breaking cycles of socio-economic disadvantage and serving the needs of our community. A community we are enormously proud of.
For some time, our aim was to become the centre of excellence our community deserves. In 2024/2025 we believe we are that centre of excellence where students are challenged, they learn, and they achieve within a culture of resilience, ambition and respect. In a world where so many young people can feel powerless, at Meridian High School our young people are powerful.
As a staff body we are open, honest and transparent with each other. We are comfortable with feedback and challenge as we strive to improve. We support each other. We are authentic and reflective of our practice. We are rigorous and relentless. We use robust assessment to inform our planning; we know our students’ academic and pastoral needs. We celebrate mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve. We always put the students at the centre of decision-making. We embrace change and we do not fear failure. We ask questions, we communicate.
