Trips and Visits (Including international)

At Meridian High School, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Some of the most memorable and powerful learning experiences happen when students step into the wider world through trips and visits. These opportunities bring learning to life, spark curiosity, and create lasting memories that inspire students long after the day is over.

Why Trips and Visits Matter

  • Learning in Real Life
Seeing history where it happened, experiencing science in action, or stepping inside a theatre makes lessons come alive in ways textbooks simply can’t.

  • Building Independence
Travelling as part of a group helps students grow in confidence, learn responsibility, and develop vital life skills.

  • Broadening Horizons
Trips expose students to new cultures, environments, and experiences they may not encounter in everyday life, opening doors to new passions and career ideas.

  • Making Memories
School trips create shared experiences that strengthen friendships and build a sense of community. These are the moments students will look back on with pride and joy.

Aims of our trips and experiences beyond the classroom:

  • To spark a curriculum interest in all our pupils
  • To consolidate learning across the curriculum, applying learning in a range of contexts
  • To inspire our pupils in particular fields of work, ensuring that role models are representative of our community
  • For pupils to have memorable experiences
  • To build independence and confidence
  • To learn new skills that may nurture students strengths, talents and interests

At Meridian High School, we believe that education goes far beyond the classroom. Our international trips programme is designed to ignite curiosity, build confidence, and broaden horizons. These unforgettable, memorable experiences help students develop independence, resilience, global awareness, and cultural appreciation—while also creating memories that will last a lifetime. Whether navigating new landscapes or embracing different languages and customs, our students return from these adventures more self-assured, better communicators, and more prepared for the world ahead.

Disneyland Paris – Performing Arts & Magic in Motion

A magical blend of creativity and confidence, this trip inspires our students through workshops, live shows, and the wonder of Disney. Students enhance their performance, communication, and teamwork skills while gaining an unforgettable insight into the arts and entertainment industry.

Barcelona – Art, Architecture & Cultural Discovery

Rich in culture, history, and stunning design, Barcelona offers students the chance to explore iconic landmarks like the Sagrada Família and Park Güell. This immersive trip helps develop language skills, historical understanding, and a deep appreciation of European heritage.

The Azores – Eco-Exploration & Sustainability in Action

Nestled in the Atlantic Ocean, the Azores offer a hands-on journey into volcanology, marine biology, and sustainable living. Students learn about biodiversity, conservation, and climate change in one of the world’s most breathtaking natural laboratories.

Ski Trip – Challenge, Confidence & Snow Skills

Set in picturesque mountain resorts, our ski trip pushes students out of their comfort zone. Whether beginners or advanced skiers, they gain perseverance, physical coordination, and resilience—all while building friendships and memories in the snow.

Iceland – The Land of Fire, Ice & Science

A spectacular landscape of geysers, glaciers, and lava fields, Iceland offers a truly unique learning experience. Students investigate geological wonders, renewable energy, and environmental science, developing critical thinking and a deep respect for Earth’s forces.
