MHS Year 10 Netball Win
Year 10 Netball vs. Archbishop Tenison’s School
Having lost to Tenison’s School in the last three years the year 10 team were excited to improve on previous performances. After arriving at the fixture the team warmed up on an inside court which was surrounded by a shell of a building making the playing conditions very cold!
The first quarter got quickly underway with Tenison’s taking the lead in the first few minutes. Some fantastic defensive work came from Helary Annan which created some excellent turnovers. This enabled us to link in a number of passing sequences to create MHS’s opening scoring opportunities. Katie Aveline worked very well with Aaliyah Reid to bring the score to a one point deficit going into the second quarter.
Excellent shooting continued for Tenison’s but MHS manage to stay close with Sophie Falzon and Katie-Louise Beaney running their socks off in the centre third. The half time whistle blew and the match was very tight with a score of 7-6.
After a quick team discussion a few positional changes were made. These turned out to be excellent decision as MHS drew level with 6 minutes to play! In the last quarter Balance Eduardo made two exceptional interception which gave us possession and created two scoring opportunities for Katie and Aaliyah. Both shooters kept their cool and executed two shots perfectly to clench a very exciting victory!!
The final whistle blew and MHS had beaten Tenison’s by 10-8. Their first win against this school for 3 years!! Well done girls on a fantastic performance!
