WE Day
On the 23rd of March 2017 myself, Caitlin Lelas, Lottie Delaney, Natalie Purnell, Rebecca Lippett, Molly Adair, Missy Byrne, Lee Habgood, Bobby Herriett, Tommy Davidson, Sarah-Simone Shotomey, Jamie- leigh McCleave, Shayn Curtis, Josh Meech all attended WE day at The Wembley Arena.
On the way there we had a bit of an issue, we got a puncture on the motorway, but after a quick call to the AA we were on the road again just in time for the others to sneak to their front row seats while I went backstage and got ready to go on stage to speak for the first time. I was speaking on behalf of Team London about our environmental project that we have been running this year. As part of Team Croydon we have been working with 3 other Croydon Schools to improve the environment, this has culminated in us designing an eco friendly bin that crushes waste and is solar panelled. This means it can hold 5 times as much as a normal bin! I felt very privileged to be chosen to speak at Wembley, there were 16,000 people in attendance so I was quite nervous. Luckily I had some voice coaching sessions with Jacob from the WE team as well as a Skype call with the Canadian production team that meant I was fully prepared for the moment! I also had a sound check the day before with Jessie J watching!
Once I had finished my first speaking bit I went back stage to get changed and ran into the lead singer of The Vamps who smiled at me and said “hi, well done by the way.” They were the closing act of the show. Conor Maynard, Jessie J, Fleur East and Kate Winslet were also other headliners. Having arrived a bit late we did miss a couple of acts but the rest of the show made up for it.
I would like to thank Miss Pearson and Miss Cloete for taking us and getting us there even though the day didn’t start off so well. It was a really fun and inspiring day spent with good friends and I feel privileged to be chosen to attend and speak in front of everyone and I will remember that day for ever.
