Tram Memorial Ceremony
On Thursday 9th November, a memorial ceremony was held in New Addington to mark a year since the tram accident at Sandilands. Our Year 7 choir was given the honour of being asked to perform at the ceremony alongside students from Fairchildes Primary School. It was a very sombre and moving occasion, at which Sarah Jones, MP for Croydon Central; Oliver Lewis, New Addington Ward Councillor; Sgt. Chris Morby from the British Transport Police; Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London and some of the bereaved family members all spoke words of remembrance and reflection, before a minute's silence was held to commemorate all those who sadly lost their lives in the accident.
GCSE Music students, Charley Brown and Courtney Turner opened the choir's performance of "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane, following the minute's silence. All of the students in the choir performed exceptionally well and they are very proud to have been given the honour of representing the school and the wider New Addington community at such a significant and special occasion.
