PruGoals launch event
On the 24th of April, our 12 Ride London students attended the PruGoals launch event at the Lee Valley Velodrome in Stratford, London. Students arrived at the venue at 9a.m., ready for a full day of activities. The first event involved the group taking part in a short ride on the outdoor cycle track before the group ventured out onto the roads in Stratford. Students immediately impressed support staff with their fantastic communication skills and positive attitude towards riding on some tricky roads.
One of the staff on the training ride said:
‘The communication of this group is fantastic, very clear. I knew exactly what dangers were coming on the roads.’
During this ride, students demonstrated how far they have come from training every Saturday morning and how well they can work together to support each other. Following the training ride, students took part in some classroom-based sessions on diet and understanding the skills they are developing through this programme and how they can use these skills to aid employability.
This was the last session given by the PruGoals team and between now and July, we are alone to train and prepare for the ride. Once again, the teachers involved in this programme (Ms Hedderman, Mr Hodgson and Miss Cole) would like to thank the students for their fantastic effort and commitment so far. We know they will make us proud in July when we complete the Ride London-46.
