Netball Match Report Meridian High V's Oasis Coulsdon
The girls played a well fought and spited match against Oasis Coulsdon.
Meridian's Year 7's, made up of Kacey Blundell (captain), Jamelia Reid, Paige Thorpe, Mollie Ferguson, Kamaria Forrest, Catlin Temple, Lashante Johnson and Lilly Fadden, never stopped running and battling for every ball against Coulsdon.
With only being their third game, Meridian were rearing to go! Starting off fast and fierce Meridian had the first few shots of the game, but were unlucky. The game saw both teams exchange various passes with each other and with both giving little away for any mistakes or interceptions Coulsdon then stepped up and took a swift 2 goal lead! Meridian were now on the back foot and didn't look too good!
Half time! Coulsdon still had their 2 goal lead and the Year 7's of Meridian High were not impressed with themselves but knew what they had to do to get back into this game.
After a brief team chat, (captain) Kacey Blundell and (vice-captain) Jamelia Reid motivated themselves and their fellow team mates to try and put salvage this away match.
Within the first few minutes Meridian scored, Lilly Fadden pulled one back for Meridian but still 2-1 to Coulsdon. Meridian pushed on for that all important equaliser but Coulsdon were stiff opposition and not letting up.
It was all Coulsdon for the next few minutes, but Meridian were not giving up!!
GOAL! Lilly Fadden, scored again to credit Meridian's hard, it paid off. There was that equaliser that they were pushing for. It could go either way now!
That game was nearing its end and both teams were going for that win, this was end to end.
With the last two minutes to go Coulsdon popped up and retook the lead (3-2); straight from the restart Meridian gave the ball away in a dangerous area and Coulsdon capitalised, 4-2 with less than a minute to go.
Full-time… Great game! The Year 7's of Meridian High should be proud of themselves. Was a close game and at any point it could of went either way. More importantly Meridian never gave up and all did their best.
Onwards and upwards. The Year 7's will come back bigger and better and with a lot more experience and confidence along the way.
