Prudential Employability Workshop
Preparation is well underway for our 23 Year 11 students as they gear up for the 46-mile “Ride London” cycle event this July. Alongside the weekly training sessions held at school, our students are also enjoying the wider support of Prudential, one of the UK’s largest pension and investment management firms, which is also the main sponsor of the PruGoals programme.
This week we were lucky enough to travel to Prudential’s offices in Central London, where we were welcomed by 20 employees who had all kindly given up their time to support our students in an afternoon of “employability workshops”.
The students were each introduced to their own “Prudential mentor”, with whom they spent the rest of the afternoon. The mentors shared some very valuable insights, particularly regarding the types of skills that employers and universities look for and how the PruGoals programme can help our students to develop them. The sessions finished with the opportunity for our students to write their own CVs under the watchful eyes of their mentors.
From the moment we walked into the boardroom, our students impressed their hosts with their maturity, enthusiasm and level of participation. It was a fantastic experience and one that our Year 11s really made the most of.
